Happy birthday to my brother Jon.  time flies...

My friend made some fried bannock yesterday.  One of my many weaknesses.  I had three pieces of it with melted butter.  It's a good thing that I must've walked like 5 to 6 miles yesterday.  I'm grateful that for the past couple of years, I've had male friends who know how to cook and are good at it.

Yeh, this is a pic of my drum.  It shows my clan (wolf) and my colours.  It's cool that my colours are the colour of the seasons (red, green, blue and white)... because of this, I have to have a feast at the beginning of every season.  Which is nice because I like any reason to socialize.  I've been doing it for years now... during the winter solstice, I'll make a turkey and that's my biggest feast of the year.  Other times it's "regular" meals.  I've had brunches also as a feast.  My friend, Sean  Mombourquette painted this for me.  He's a gifted artist from my community and I really treasure my drum.  Thanks, Sean.

Rest in peace, Jack Layton.  I never met the guy and have only seen him from afar.  I did ride a boat with him to the treaty signing place in Mishkeegogamang in 2005 but that's about it.  ...just when he got into the opposition party leader.  I'm glad I voted NDP. He was a dynamic leader and cared deeply for his country.

I've been doing lots of reading lately.  I read the autobiography of Rob Lowe.  When I was a teenager, I had such a crush on the guy.  His autobiography was very interesting.  How he always wanted to be an actor and would go to every audition for anything that was around.  He talks about his family, his auditions, his movies and tv shows plus his rehab.  I can't say that I followed his career after becoming a mom but glad I read his book.   He talks about Austin Powers the movie in there also and his friends.  Loved the book...

I'm walking so much more and enjoy it.  I'm going to have to buy those expensive shoes though because I still have to get used to walking on sidewalks.  I need more "cushion" I think.

k, have a good day!  Smile

I looked this up according to my birthdate and it says that I'm the following:  curious, freedom-loving (hence why I'm separated), rebellious (hence another reason I'm separated.  lol) and open-minded.  I like the rebellious part but it should be maybe put as advocating or activism, maybe?

It said also that I'm full of Mensa-level insights and groundbreaking knowledge.  (cool cool)

It also said that "Practicing what they preach allows this natural born authority to teach from experience - not just theory.  ...that we're here to change the world and change ourselves."

Well, if it's one thing I have is experience... lot of good but I've also made mistakes which I've hopefully learned from them and hopefully will never repeat them again.

My ex mother-in-law passed away this week.  If anything this lady taught me was RESILIENCY, courage and love.  ...how she adopted so many children and fostered over 70 children the best way she knew how.  Rest in peace...

August 19, 2011

Well, it's been awhile since I updated this page so here goes.  I now live in Thunder Bay with a good job which I enjoy.  ...think I can make a positive impact for the families in NAN.

Thought I'd work on two lists here:

Things I like about living in Thunder Bay instead of the rez:

1.  You can actually drink the tap water instead of lugging the huge bottles from the fire hall.  ..and my skin hasn't felt this good in a LONG time.

2.  Everything can be reached by walking if you set your mind to it.

3.  My job  -  like the fact that my brain is being challenged again.

4.  You can leave your house without fear of someone breaking in within the hour.

Things I miss about the rez:

1.  My friends - you know who you are.  Wink

2. My house  -  big enough to fit all my kids and when their friends drop by.

3.  My pets  -  I now only have Sunshine, Sassy and Friskie but they're all lovable, friendly and silly.

4.  The smell of the trees, berries and wild flowers.

Okay, that's about it.  Enjoy!  If you want to be facebook friends, don't be afraid to add me.  Laughing

Take care!
